5 Reasons Steve Bruce Will Fail At Aston Villa

2. Getting The Best Out Of Kodjia And McCormack Will Be His Biggest Challenge

I’ll come onto this in more detail a bit later, but signing both Jonathan Kodjia and Ross McCormack was clearly a mistake. Obviously, the club felt that they needed firepower to get out of the Championship and that is a logical thing to do.

However, the most successful teams in the Championship have a balanced squad and hardworking players. The problem with Kodjia and McCormack is they both want to be the centre of attention and both want to be the main striker. It’s also the case that the fees involved means they both really need to be in the starting eleven.

As mentioned, this problem is going to make getting the balance of the team right and that is a big problem. Furthermore, trying to get the best out of Kodjia and McCormack may mean that the club aren’t able to get the maximum out of even one of them – and that certainly seems to be the case so far this season.
