5 Reasons This Could Be Vancouver's Last Shot At A Stanley Cup

1. Expiring Contracts

Contracts Finaly, with Daniel and Henrik set to become unrestricted free agents by the end of the season, Vancouver is left with yet another question of re-signing them or letting them go onto the free agent market. On one hand it would free up a lot of lucrative cap space. You have got to imagine that if the Canucks don't at least make it to the finals this year the Sedins will want to shop their services around to credible cup contenders. Since making it to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in modern franchise history, the Canucks have been ousted in the first round in the two playoffs that followed, winning a paltry one game in those two appearances. Jannik Hansen is also due to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this seasons campaign. He racked up 9 points in the 2011 playoffs, but has recorded one in the two that followed. The Canucks have secured their blue line players through the next season, but they need to address a lack of scoring if they want to win a championship, and it will be much harder to produce goals without the Sedins in a line-up, a duo that posts roughly 80 points each per season if they play a healthy season.
