5 Reasons Why Andy Carroll’s Return Would Be Good For Newcastle (And 5 Why It Wouldn’t)

The Positives...

5. He's Committed To, And Loves, The Club

The infamous banner displayed by Newcastle fans towards the end of last season said "We don't want a team that wins, we just want a team that tries" in response to some sub-par performances at St James' Park. While some fans have lambasted the big man on his previous returns to Tyneside, it seems like that many would soon get past his departure in 2011 if he returned this summer. Commitment and character are the buzzwords coming out of the club concerning new signings and, in Carroll, there are no questions about that. An academy graduate who was said to be disappointed to leave his hometown team, Carroll would be prepared to put his body on the line and battle for the club - a minimum requirement for the Toon faithful.
