5 Reasons Why Chelsea Will Win The Premier League

4. New Signings

With an already-strong Chelsea squad in place, there has been a definite fill-in-the-gaps mentality behind Chelsea's summer signings. The new signings, although sparsely made, are all important signings that add depth and excitement to the squad. Andre Schurrle and Marco Van Ginkel have been brought in to supplement Chelsea's midfield and attack. The former cost the Blues a reported £18 million, and has impressed in pre-season. German international Schurrle is only 22, yet has 24 caps and 7 international goals, and is an exciting new signing. Van Ginkel could ultimately prove to be their best signing though. In the mould of current Frank Lampard, the youngster expects to start at Stamford Bridge, and reports suggest that the young Dutchman is primed to start against Hull this Sunday following an impressive pre-season. Experienced goalkeeper Mark Schwartzer is an important signing for Chelsea; the 40-year-old is still one of the best keepers in the league, and he had a fantastic season last time out for Fulham. He provides much-needed cover and competition to Petr Cech, and he'll be able to fill in for the Blues in the Cup competitions and around Christmas, where rest-time will be at a premium.
