4. Lyon
The French team have had a lacklustre couple of seasons in Ligue and havent appeared in the Champions League since 2009. Previously they had made the quarter finals three years running. Lyon have had a very positive start to the season and despite not being able to match Marseilles 100% record in the league they are still second with 13 points from the first five games. Les Gones have some very interesting talents who have performed under-par over the last few years, but who are now slowly improving. Michel Bastos is a strong dynamic winger and the partnership between Bafetimbi Gomis and Lisandro Lopez has become very productive. Yoann Gourcuff disappointed since his expensive arrival from Bordeaux and although he is injured at the moment he is starting to match the potential that Lyon paid for. Lyon managed to defeat Sparta Prague 2-1 at the Stade Gerland with each striker notching one goal, which puts them at the top of Group I. They shouldnt have trouble with Ironi Kiryat Shmona but if Athletic Bilbao improve their form they may provide a familiar challenge.
