5 Things We Learned From First Ever UFC Women's Strawweight Fight

1. We're Eager To Have A New Champ In A New Weight Class

Here's the one thing that fans kept thinking about during this bout: We can't wait to see a new champion in the UFC. Things have really dried up with injuries and the number of events being held. While a single new weight class won't solve that overnight, the strawweights joining the fray - that's a welcome addition to the UFC roster. There is almost no doubt that we're going to get some stellar fights this season. Ultimate Fighter 20 will feature Bec Rawlings and Felice Herrig, fighters who have big reputations ahead of their debut. Another one to watch out for is Invicta champ Carla Esparza. Also watch to see how Lahdemaki bounces back from her first career loss, and to see if Claudia Gadelha can take a run at the title with this head start. The strawweight division is going to be one to watch - so congrats to Claudia Gadelha and Tina Lahdemaki for their historical first UFC strawweight bout, and double to Gadelha for picking up the first ever win in the division.
