When: UFC 180 - November 15th, 2014 The title fight we've all been waiting for. Lets face it, watching Cain Velasquez fight Junior Dos Santos was getting tired by the time they fought their third bout. He's also beat down Bigfoot Silva twice, and the second bout was basically unnecessary as Cain dominated the first one. Lets consider this little statistic: Since winning the belt from Brock Lesnar in 2010, Velasquez has fought five times - against only the two men we just mentioned. How does that allow you to grow as an athlete in the cage? Now, Cain is a fantastic fighter and trains with the best so it may not matter, but Werdum is the biggest threat to his belt out there given JDS has fallen victim to him twice. Why are we looking forward to this? If Velasquez wins, he will become the most dominant champion in UFC heavyweight history, surpassing the record for title defences held by himself, Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture, and Tim Sylvia jointly. If he loses, all hell breaks lose in the heavyweight division, as several fighters including Dos Santos, Stipe Miocic, the winner of Hunt vs. Nelson, and even Ben Rothwell could suddenly be just a fight away from a title shot (keep in mind, however, that Velasquez may have a rematch clause in his contract). Plus, the action in the cage should be sick.
