If Deila opts for the one man attack then he will be faced with the same selection dilemma he has been posed with in the last two rounds – Griffiths or Çiftçi?

Çiftçi has been Deila’s choice in the Champions League qualifiers so far having started in all four of Celtic’s matches in the competition this season. Whilst he has shown glimpses of threat in these games, he has yet to score a goal. This is obviously not an ideal statistic for the man who was supposed to be Celtic’s main striking threat.

Griffiths on the other hand has proven himself much more prolific playing in the lone striker role for Celtic, with 20 goals for the club last season and 3 goals from 4 starts in the SPL this season. He has even managed to outscore Çiftçi in the Champions League too, having scored a late goal after coming as a substitute in the match away to Stjarnan.

Çiftçi may yet turn out to be the goal machine Celtic fans hoped the club had signed back in July, however the fact is he isn’t producing the goods just yet. Therefore Griffiths needs to be Deila’s first-choice against Malmo if Celtic want to maximise their chances of progressing.
