5 Winners And 5 Losers From The Premier League Opening Weekend

2. Petr Cech

Petr Cech has faced an uncertain future at Chelsea ever since the club announced plans to recall Thibaut Courtois from his three-season loan stay at Atletico Madrid earlier this summer and Monday night served as proof that the Czech international's claim at the Blues' No.1 goalkeeper is no longer secure. Cech was named on the substitutes' bench against Burnley last night with Courtois getting the nod by Jose Mourinho, adding fuel to the fire that the shot-stopper could be set to leave Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer transfer window. Having spent the last decade as the undisputed first choice goalkeeper at SW6, the former Rennes man is now battling to make the first team. It is difficult to see Cech being contented with a place on the bench this season but if the opening day of the Premier League campaign is of any indication, that could well be his future this term, and that is bad news for a man still considered one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
