To Newcastle United fans, Sir Bobby Robson and Alan Shearer are absolute icons - hell, to the majority of football fans, the pair are viewed in the highest regard - but reports indicate that the two didn't actually get on all that well during their time together at St. James' Park.

As reported by The Telegraph back in 2004, Sir Bobby felt betrayed by Shearer towards the end of the former England manager's time in the Toon dugout.

Robson had given his star striker the chance to work with the club's youngsters - a chance Robson felt Shearer didn't make the most of - and Sir Bobby was left feeling disrespected by his captain when Shearer didn't stick around to watch Robson receive an award from the city of Newcastle.

Added to this, Robson dropping the ageing Shearer for games didn't sit well with the player - not to mention trying to sell Big Al to Liverpool - and only further put a rift between the two.
