6 Footballers Who Totally Betrayed Their Manager

1. Leicester's Stars Turn On Ranieri

Despite remarkably leading Leicester City to Premier League glory in 2015/16, the beloved Tinkerman was shockingly sacked in February 2017.

The key factor in this sacking - away from the obvious dismal form of the team - was that the players went behind Ranieri's back to encourage chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha to sack the Italian.

At the time of that sacking, reports revealed that Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel were the two most vocal at their displeasure of Ranieri's tactics. Those same players, of course, held Claudio up on a pedestal just mere months earlier when they romped to the Premier League title.

The reason for Leicester's dreadful season in that follow-up campaign can be blamed on Claudio Ranieri's tinkering of tactics and formation, but there's also an argument to be made that the success of the prior season had gone to the heads of some of The Foxes' players.

Either way, the players were eager to throw their manager under the bus once all wasn't sunshine and rainbows.
