6 Shock Revelations From Kieron Dyer's Time At Newcastle

6. He Probably Would Have Dropped Shearer Too

Dyer admitted to the show that he actually felt sorry for Gullit after the fall-out from his public spat with Alan Shearer meant he was forced to walk out of the club. It's not all that surprising, since the England man probably felt some commitment to the manager who gave him his big chance by signing him from Ipswich, but it's surprising to hear anyone not to say Gullit was the villain of the piece. Though he admitted that Shearer gave everything to the club and to the team on the pitch, Dyer said that if he had been in Gullit's shoes, he would probably have done exactly the same thing:
€œWe were struggling at the start of that season, and if I was to go into management, would I pick a player who despised me? I€™m not sure I would.€ €œIf you€™re Ruud Gullit and you know the man doesn€™t like you, would you play him? I can see it from both sides.€
So that's probably proof that Dyer shouldn't be allowed to be a manager, since he's of the same school of thought as Pardew - that brilliant players should be dropped based on personal sentiments and bad feelings.
