60 Best Tottenham Hotspur Players In Premier League History

1. Ledley King

Main Position: Central Defender. Time With Spurs: 1999-2012.

Ledley King is Mr. Tottenham Hotspur, having spent the entirety of his 13 year playing career with the Lilywhites, culminating in the talented defender becoming the club captain. Sadly, King's career was blighted by a chronic knee injury which left him unable to train - which really emphasised just how brilliant a player he was, because he could still perform to phenomenal standards effortlessly. There is no doubt that King could've been England's stand-out defender of the early 21st century if he had been fully fit for his entire career. King made 268 league appearances for Spurs, won the League Cup with the club in 2008 and was runner up in the same competition on two other occasions. He also led the club in to the Champions League in 2010 and represented England in Euro 2004 and the 2010 World Cup. He was forced to retire due to the aforementioned injury at the end of the 2012-2013 season, but continues to work for the club he loves in an ambassadorial role. Honourable mentions for potential top 60 status: ˜yvind Leonhardsen, Neil Sullivan, Ilie Dumitrescu, Ramon Vega, Luke Young, José Dominguez, Kasey Keller, Chris Perry, Mauricio Taricco, Anthony Gardner, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Gary Doherty, Willem Korsten, Clive Wilson, Mido, Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio, Steed Malbranque, Lee Young-Pyo, Heurelho Gomes, Jermaine Jenas, Jamie O'Hara, Kyle Naughton and Wilson Palacios. It's a sign of the times that the likes of Sergei Rebrov (£11m), Giovani Dos Santos (£8.8m) and David Bentley (£17m and still Tottenham's record signing) do not make this list (or even come close to doing so). So, what do you think?Obviously this is entirely subjective and depends how you measure 'best'. I've gone for overall contribution specifically in a Spurs shirt. But you might think, for example, that Hugo Lloris deserves to be higher because, despite his short time and lack of achievements with the club, he's simply the goalkeeper with the most impressive ability that Spurs have had in the last 20 years. You might also think a player who gave his all for 5 years, but simply wasn't very good, should be on the list simply for his efforts. With that in mind, in your opinion, have I missed anyone?
