7 Awesome Football Transfers You Might Have Missed This Summer

4. Ryan Fredericks (West Ham)

On the surface, West Ham signing a 25-year old right back from Fulham shouldn't be earth-shattering news. Look at it this way though: Ryan Fredericks missed just four of Fulham's 52 matches last season, helped them to Premier League promotion via the playoffs and was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

Now, Fredericks has made the short journey across London to Fulham's city rivals West Ham, will be buzzing to play at the London Stadium and becomes new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini's first summer signing.

He has years of good football ahead of him, and (all going well) could feasibly earn West Ham a pretty penny if he turns in good performances next season. There's no gamble here. West Ham are getting a young player who's eager to prove himself at the top level and didn't pay a transfer fee.

Fulham's oversight, letting the player's contract tick down, benefits West Ham. They're a team in dire need of a fresh injection to stave off relegation worries, and the talented Fredericks is a tremendous addition to the ranks.

The best things in life are free.
