7 Biggest Conor McGregor Controversies
1. Smashing A Bus Window With A Dolly
The pre-fight fracas at UFC 223 is undoubtedly McGregor's lowest point. The card featured both McGregor's teammate and main training partner Artem Lobov and also his long-term rival Khabib Nurmagomedov in separate bouts.
In an altercation at the hotel that both fighters were staying at in the lead up to the event, Nurmagomedov and several members of his team had cornered Lobov to confront him about comments Lobov has made about Khabib in the past.
Footage of the confrontation later emerged of Lobov being accosted by multiple members of Khabib's team. Incensed that Khabib and members of his team had ganged up on Lobov, McGregor committed his most infamous action yet in his quest for revenge.
All the fighters competing on the UFC 223 card were being led onto buses after a media day. The plan was to take the fighters back to the hotel without incident.
That is until Conor showed up.
According to UFC president Dana White, members of McGregor's own media team from The Mac Life had provided him access to the building which was supposed to be strictly for media and competing fighters only.
Once inside McGregor and a group of his teammates ran rampant. In shocking scenes that were caught on camera, McGregor picked up a dolly and threw it at the window of the bus, smashing it. Conor was also heard on camera imploring his fellow perpetrators to also smash the buses windows in an attempt to goad Nurmagomedov into a street fight.
As a result of McGregor's exploits, three fights had to be removed from the UFC 223 card. Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg couldn't compete in their respectively scheduled fights due to injuries from the broken glass, and Artem Lobov was removed from the card for his participation in the incident.
Dana White condemned the events as "the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company".
