Kevin De Bruyne certainly knows how to bounce back emphatically from injuries. He missed a huge chunk of last season through broken ligament and understandably failed to have an impact upon returning, but has taken the new season by storm.

The Belgian wizard looks rejuvenated, and more importantly, has returned to his blistering best. His tally of 17 assists so far is the most by any player in Europe's top five leagues, and is well on course to shatter Thierry Henry's long-time record 21 assists in a season.

Statistics tell only half his story, as there's more to De Bruyne's game than just assists. His powerful dribbling and inch-perfect deliveries are second to none, and they help Manchester City create numerous chances.

What's more impressive is that he hasn't only put up numbers in the assist column. The 28-year old also has eight goals to his name, including some crucial strikes such as against Chelsea and Newcastle United. Also, no midfielder has scored more than him at the moment.

With a series of stellar performances this season, the ex-Wolfsburg star has reminded everyone of his stupendous qualities. This has to be without a doubt, his best shot at the player of the year award.
