7 Major Transfers That Could Happen After The World Cup
6. Riyad Mahrez To City
This transfer has been dragging on for over a year now, with Riyad Mahrez seemingly desperate to leave Leicester and City very eager to add the Algerian winger to their ranks. The latest reports suggest that City have finally agreed a deal worth around £60 million with Leicester, and the transfer could go through relatively quickly, but this wouldn't be the first time City agreed a deal only to see it fall apart at the last minute.
Pep Guardiola's side thought they'd tied up a transfer for Alexis Sanchez last summer and again in January, only to see the Chilean end up at arch-rivals Manchester United. For now, however, it doesn't seem like any other club is interested in pursuing Mahrez, so the deal should finally be allowed to come to a close soon.
Mahrez, who won the Premier League trophy with Leicester in 2016 and was also named the PFA Players' Player of the Year, will give City another incredible attacking option to go alongside the likes of Leroy Sané, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne. The 27-year-old scored 17 league goals back in 2015-16 and hasn't quite replicated that form since then, but has still proven to be a prolific goal scorer and creator.
