7. We Could Win It
On current form, there is no reason why we couldn't win it. Or as a bare minimum walk away with a medal.England, who are likely to make up a decent chunk of the squad, have always been there or thereabouts at the top of the World Series table. Ben Gollings leads the all time points scorer list and Mat Turner and Dan Norton topped the try scoring charts with 38 and 37 tries respectively this season. New Zealand will be the obvious favourites, especially after ten World Series wins and four gold medals in the four Commonwealth Games since Sevens was included. But throw into the mix a Wales side that won the 2009 Sevens World Cup and an already good side would be boosted further, without even including players from Scotland who also play on the series.Ireland Don't have a team at the moment but that may well change. With the Tri-nations sides (or Rugby Championship as it is now) and Pacific Islanders, Fiji in particular, loving the 7-a-side format and all looking to 2016 with a whetted appetite, the culmination of the next four years could mean that the Sevens is one of the must-see events at the next Olympics, launching our much beloved sport to a world of new fans. Rio here we come.
