Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was a determined man this summer when it came to the transfer market, making it clear his intentions were to bring in players who suited his tactics and style of play.

In French left-back Mendy, he appears to have found the ideal fit for what he was seeking.

The 23-year-old has made a terrific start to his career at the Etihad, demonstrating the type of attacking prowess you only see in a fullback who is at the top of his game. Much like Kyle Walker on the opposite side of the field, Mendy has stamped his marker down in the City line-up and has already begun racking up the assists.

Fans who watched plenty of Champions League action last year will not be surprised by Mendy's start to life in England. He showed his form with Monaco last year before they saw their team dismantled this summer, and he looks set to have a long and successful career ahead of him in the Premier League.
