Despite the loss lacking any serious consequences, one would expect Sunderland to handily beat a side from the USA's third tier. A key issue was the lack of incisiveness in front of goal, in terms of both creating and finishing. A few half-chances were snatched at, but generally Sacramento proved difficult for the Black Cats to break down. Luckily, Sunderland may have already found the answer to such an issue. Jeremain Lens looks an increasingly likely signing, having recently announced his departure from Dynamo Kyiv, and the Dutchman would bring a much-needed dose of pace and directness to proceedings. As things stand, he's currently set to be the star of Wearside this season.
