Caps: 107 Goals: 0 It has been a fairly rapid fall from grace for a man who was recently talked about as the best left back in the world. Cole has struggled to find a place in the Chelsea first team ever since Mourinho's return to the club and has been usurped by Cesar Azpilicueta for the majority of this season. The ex-Arsenal man has only managed eight appearances since the turn of the year and these have largely been in second string FA Cup teams. A trusted lieutenant of Mourinho during the his first spell at the club, fans can only assume that the Portuguese manager has spotted a change in Cole, either in his attitude or performance levels. There can be no doubt that he has been one of the most consistent performers for club and country for the last decade but now, aged 33, it would appear his career is in decline. Shaw and Baines have both played consistently for their clubs this season, turning in top performances, and Shaw in particular looks set to be a fixture in the England team for years to come. Why waste a squad place on one of the old guard when this World Cup can provide opportunities for the next generation to experience tournament football? Stats courtesy of the FA/ESPN
