8 Most Influential Players In The Premier League Right Now
7. John Terry - Chelsea
When Terry fell out with Rafa Benitez, during the Spaniard's short reign as Chelsea manager in 2012/13, there were some who questioned whether the Englishman's best days were behind him and if the Blues should sell him. Since then the former England captain has been superb though, and he remains the first defender on Jose Mourinho's team-sheet. The 33-year-old may not have the pace and dynamism of Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta anymore, but he is still more important. The biggest compliment you could probably pay to Terry is that when Chelsea are playing, you often barely notice him. His positional sense is magnificent, as is his consistency, and while some centre-backs are easily noticeable, he just quietly goes about his business. Mourinho's side are arguably the best defensive side in Europe at the moment- they virtually give no sloppy goals away, ever- and are primed for a serious Champions League challenge this season. If Terry wasn't around Chelsea would look far more brittle though, which given how good their other defenders are, outlines his level of influence.
