2. The Here And Now Is What Counts... Not Previous Form

It's easy to get nostalgic about Fabricio Coloccini - he is undoubtedly a Newcastle United legend and possibly the best centre-half the Magpies have had this decade. He has played for the club for a longer period than Jonathan Woodgate (who was brilliant but only played two seasons) and chose to stay on numerous occasions when he could easily have departed, most notably when the Magpies were relegated in 2008-09. However, Coloccini simply isn't an integral player to the Magpies anymore. His performances are slow, ill-disciplined and careless and for a player who reportedly earns £80,000 a week - put simply, he is no longer Premier League standard. Yes, he's better than Mike Williamson but that really doesn't indicate very much. It's like saying Ipswich Town's Christophe Berra is better than Queens Park Ranger's Clint Hill...
