Last season was nine months of discontent for a large proportion of the new signings at White Hart Lane. With the weight of responsibility having fallen so heavily on the shoulders of a talented left-winger from Wales the previous season, an influx of incoming transfers were desperately sanctioned in a frantic bid to replace the departing talisman's impact on the team. Brendan Rodgers will desperately hope lightning doesn't strike in the Premier League, with the Liverpool hierarchy having adopted the same tactic with regard to the recent loss of £75 million man Luis Suarez. Most of Spurs' new signings from last term flopped, and with style. Roberto Soldado looked a shadow of the striker who had successfully hit double digits in La Liga since navigating a move away from Real Madrid in 2008. Paulinho and Nacer Chadli flattered to deceive, while Christian Eriksen took about four months to find a bit of form. The less said about club record signing Erik Lamela, the better. However, it's not all bleak. Despite what the vicious tabloid hacks might have you believe, these players do have a future at White Hart Lane. The talent is already there, so providing they dig deep, work hard and give their all for the North London side, they will eventually turn even the most sceptical supporter, following last season's vapid and soulless displays.
