To this day, Spurs supporters are still scratching their heads wondering who on earth was that imposter claiming to be Younes Kaboul, having signed for the club for £8 million in 2007. The French centre-back that currently commands White Hart Lane, now in his second spell at the club, with such poise, elegance and calmness, must be his twin brother or something. The former Auxerre centre-half lasted just one error-strewn season at Spurs, during which time he lost his place to Jonathan Woodgate, before signing for Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth in the summer. His form had regressed to such a low ebb that former Spurs boss Juande Ramos once left him out of an 18 man UEFA Cup squad despite possessing only one other match-fit centre-half. Upon signing for Portsmouth, he was a revelation. Despite the club having been in the midst of being ripped open by the administrative version of the Titanic's iceberg, Kaboul was a shining light for the south-coast club, and found himself re-united with the former West Ham boss at old club Spurs in January 2010. Arguing that his former centre-half was a 'late developer', he had persuaded chairman Daniel Levy to part with £9.5 million to bring back the former flop - a move which had a couple of thousand eyebrows twitching around White Hart Lane. They needn't have worried, however, as the slate had been wiped clean. The traits of clumsiness, rash decision-making and poor positioning had been expelled during his short stint on the south-coast. He has since appeared for the club over 80 times, including a spell as captain of the club. Now, who would have ever predicted that for the bumbling 'Kaboul in a china shop?'
