8 Times Animals Invaded Formula 1

1. Human - Silverstone (2003)

If you think trips to the track are just for animals who don't know any better, think again. People finding their way onto the circuit represent some of the most memorable and dangerous encounters a race driver can have, as the grid discovered at the British Grand Prix in 2003. On lap twelve, a man wearing a kilt ran onto the Hangar Straight, getting perilously close to the cars racing towards him at almost 200 mph. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and the kilted man was later arrested.

It's happened more recently as well. In 2015 at the Singapore Grand Prix, the safety car came out after race leader Sebastian Vettel spotted an intruder on the circuit. A similar incident had already happened at the Chinese Grand Prix that year, after a man ran across the pit straight during free practice.
