Formula One had something of a creature feature at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2016. A massive lizard was spotted on the track by Red Bull's Max Verstappen during Saturday Practice. The Dutchman did well to avoid the beast as it scampered across the track. Sounding genuinely alarmed, he came onto the radio to explain what he had just seen. His race engineer joked that he had come face-to-face with Godzilla.
Eventual champion Nico Rosberg won the race from pole position for Mercedes, holding off a late challenge from Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo to cross the line less than half a second ahead of the Australian. Lewis Hamilton finished in third. Sebastian Vettel climbed up 17 places from his starting position to finish in 5th, one place ahead of Verstappen.
