9 Players Who Have Flourished Since Leaving Man Utd

9. Giuseppe Rossi

Giuseppe Rossi has proven to be a bit of an enigma for football managers in recent years as he has only just started to achieve the potential that he had promised since he was a youngster. He joined Manchester United in 2004 and remained at the club for three years, but with the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy at the club, Rossi found it tough to break into the starting squad and ultimately made only one league start - spending time on loan at Newcastle and Parma. Since leaving United in 2007 he joined Spanish side Villarreal, making 52 league starts and scoring at just under 0.5 goals per game. He remained at the Spanish club until 2013 before moving to Fiorentina, and in the process he attracted the attention of the Italy national management and has made 30 international appearances for his nation. Although he has achieved great success since leaving United, the enigma surrounding the player continues. During the 2013/14 season, whilst playing for Fiorentina, he scored 16 league goals in 19 starts. This is a tremendous record and yet he was omitted from the Italian World Cup squad, much to his amazement. Rossi has undoubtedly flourished since leaving United, but there is also a lot more promise yet to be fulfilled for the 27 year old.
