9 Players Who Have Flourished Since Leaving Man Utd

8. Chris Eagles

Chris Eagles is just one of the many United youngsters that failed to cut it at the top level and was forced to make his name elsewhere. After joining the Reds in 2003 he played less than 10 league games in his five year spell at the club and spent most of his time out on loan at various clubs. He was always a promising talent and clearly the United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, felt there was something to Eagles otherwise he would not have held onto him for so long. But ultimately his United days ended in 2008 and he left on a permanent deal to head to Turf Moor with Burnley, where he spent three years before moving to Bolton after impressing the then manager, Owen Coyle. He remains at Bolton going into the 2014/15 season and since leaving United, he's played almost 200 league games in six seasons, as opposed to less than 10 for United. Yes, those clubs aren't exactly at the top of the European ladder, but in terms of personal success, Eagles has enjoyed significantly more than when he was no more than a cameo player for United.
