9 Players Who Have Flourished Since Leaving Man Utd

5. Tim Howard

Tim Howard is one of those United players that can never be considered a great at the club, but he never flopped either. He was signed as a replacement for the unreliable Fabien Barthez for $4 million during the middle of the MLS season. He made plenty of appearances for United but never truly sparkled and was always in competition for the goalkeeping spot with Roy Carroll. Howard's final nail in the coffin came after a blunder against FC Porto in the Champions League saw United knocked out of the competition in 2004. He moved to Everton and has made 272 league appearances since, making him a fan favourite at Goodison Park. He is known for his passion and his reliability since settling in at Everton. Added to his solid performances for his club he has become one of the symbols of the USA international team as the sport continues to grow in the States. In this years World Cup he broke the record for the number of saves made by a goalkeeper in a single game during USA's Last 16 match with Belgium. Howard made 15 saves and kept his side in the match throughout. He has been a solid player for a number of years but now he seems to be reaching his peak and he is almost certain to be on the Everton team sheet for a number of seasons to come.
