9 Most Ridiculous Panic Buys On Transfer Deadline Day

7. Paul Konchesky - Liverpool

The Deal: Swap Deal From Fulham. Despite a successful reign at Fulham that earned him an auspicious move to Liverpool as boss, Roy Hodgson did not have the expected impact at Anfield. In fact, his time at Liverpool was nothing short of a disaster, and it was down to ludicrous decisions like signing Paul Konchesky. The full-back had been a key player for Fulham under Hodgson, so the future England manager decided to ignore the fact that he was no more than a middling talent and bring him to Anfield as his first choice left-back. He came in as a response to Hodgson's dire need for a left-back, and unfortunately his time at Liverpool was laughably poor. The Warning Signs: First off, Roy Hodgson signed him, and then there's the small fact that he was never the right quality of player by any stretch of the imagination.
