9 Unfortunate Premier League Records No Player Wants

1. Most Red Cards

Dunne Red Cards

Amazingly, Vinnie Jones does not hold this record. In his Premier League career Jones accumulated an impressive seven red cards, leaving him one short of the all time record. However, he played significantly less matches than the players who share the honours of this record, so he probably would have smashed it if he spent a few more seasons in the top flight.

With eight red cards each, the honour of being the most sent off player in Premier League history is shared between Patrick Viera, Duncan Ferguson and previously mentioned Richard Dunne. Dunne being the most sent off player ever while also scoring the most own goals ever is probably a reality he would rather not be made aware of.

But, Duncan Ferguson technically claims this award, as he managed to accumulate the same amount of red cards as Dunne despite playing over 150 matches less than him. Duncan Ferguson averaged a red card once every 33 games, which is miles ahead of Viera (38) and Richard Dunne (53).

All of these pale in comparison to Vinnie Jones however, who (with his red card average) would have been sent off an astonishing 16 times if he played the same amount of games as Richard Dunne.
