Alan Pardew Delivers Gloomy Forecast On Newcastle's Summer Recruitment Hopes
A sense of fore boarding always strikes us when Alan Pardew beings to discuss our summer recruitment plans and today is no different after the Newcastle boss hinted that the Club face a tough few months in the transfer market. We've have been linked with a veritable array of European talent in recent weeks with Montpellier playmaker Remy Cabella high on our agenda but judging from Pardew's comments in the Shields Gazette this morning he doesn't seem all that confident of landing his top targets. Theres a lot of negotiating to do and a lot of work to do this summer theres no doubt about that, Pardew ominously said. Perhaps this is just Pardew being pragmatic and attempting to moderate the expectation that has built up during our pursuit of Cabella and that of France international Clement Grenier, who many supporters consider essential additions to inject creativity into a sterile attack. That being said it conflicts with the self-assured message issued by the Club earlier this month that stated an unrealistic intention to have all of their transfer business concluded before the start of the World Cup which is just a fortnight way. Cabella, Grenier and other targets like Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette would be quality additions to the squad but with clubs in the Champions League also in the mix for their signature we must begrudgingly admit that Pardew has a point. It could turn out to be a very gloomy summer on Tyneside.
