The Newcastle-born defender moved from Wearside back to Tyneside in a controversial free transfer in the summer of 2014 - with Sunderland fans apoplectic about Colback's decision to join their bitter rivals. During his first season at St James' Park, Colback was one of the few bright sparks in a disastrous campaign, contributing seven assists and four goals in 35 Premier League appearances. Colback also caused a stir on Wearside by celebrating some of his goals by kissing the Newcastle United badge.
