All Newcastle's South Americans Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Fabricio Coloccini (Argentina)

Newcastle United: 2008- Position: Centre-Back Nationality: Argentine Premier League Appearances: 185 Premier League Goals: 3 International Caps (Goals): 39 (1) Fabricio Coloccini may have seen his stock fall on Tyneside in recent months, but at his best the 39-cap Argentine was simply superb. Signed for £10.3 million from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008, Coloccini struggled with the physicality of the Premier League during his first season as the Magpies were relegated. However, during the promotion year in the Championship the centre-back excelled and became a stalwart of the side, continuing to improve for each of the next four seasons. A key reason behind the Magpies' fifth-placed finished in 2011-12, Coloccini was made captain of the side - providing composure on the ball as well as a reassuring presence in defence. In the last 18 months Coloccini's form - and leadership skills - appear to have deserted him, but it looks likely he will add to his 185 Premier League appearances for the club in 2015-16.
