All Newcastle's South Americans Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Daniel Cordone (Argentina)

Newcastle United: 2000-01 Position: Forward Nationality: Argentine Premier League Appearances: 21 Premier League Goals: 2 International Caps (Goals): 0 (0) When Newcastle signed a long-haired Argentine striker from Racing Club for £500,000 in 2000 they had dreams of a Gabriel Batistuta Mark II - unfortunately, Cordone proved to be anything but. Playing just a solitary season for the club, Cordone managed a mere two Premier League goals - against Derby County and Tottenham Hotspur - from 21 appearances and he was quickly shown the door to Argentinos Juniors in 2001. A return of 78 goals from 261 career league appearances shows Cordone couldn't have been too hopeless overall, but for Newcastle he was woeful.
