All Newcastle's South Americans Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Cacapa (Brazil)

Newcastle United: 2007-09 Position: Centre-Back Nationality: Brazilian Premier League Appearances: 29 Premier League Goals: 2 International Caps (Goals): 3 (0) Capped three times by Brazil and a six-time Ligue 1 winner with Lyon, Cacapa arrived on Tyneside on a free transfer in August 2007 to much fanfare. Captain of the French club for five of those title victories, Cacapa was a brilliant centre-back in his day - but unfortunately his previous powers had largely deserted him by the time he signed for Newcastle. Severely lacking in pace, Sam Allardyce's signing became a source of fans' frustrations - and he was even substituted after just 18 minutes in a game against Portsmouth. It was deeply depressing to see a player who, at his best, was one of the most-talented centre-backs in France reduced to such poor performances.
