2. Murray Finally Has The Right People Around Him

It may have taken him a little while, but it was really important for Murray to get the right people around him in order to enable him to taste success. Even from the early days it was obvious that Murray had talent €“ but he needed to work on his fitness and mentality. Certainly everyone that has worked with the Brit has played their part in allowing him to accomplish those goals. However, it was perhaps the appointment of Ivan Lendl as his coach in 2012 that has had the most pivotal influence on his career. I certainly don't think it was any huge surprise that Murray started to taste success shortly after Lendl came on board. It's a coaching relationship that just seems to be working, and long may that continue. This isn't to say, of course, that Murray wasn't an excellent player before he started working with Lendl €“ but anyone that saw him play knew that he was missing something. It wasn't really a matter of his physicality or talent. It was much more of a case of the way that he approached games, the fact that he was too negative. He simply needed to use his excellent defensive play to his advantage, and for whatever reason Lendl was able to bring that out.
