The complete antithesis to Arsene Wenger's football beliefs. Simeone has moulded Atletico Madrid into a formidably physical and uncompromising team capable of mixing - and beating - it with the bigger and significantly more affluent clubs. Yes, Atleti aren't going to win plaudits for the prettiest football but Simeone has loosened the shackles somewhat this season, according to various statistics.

Quite frankly, who cares? You can't argue with Simeone's track record at the Madrid-based club: Europa League winners in 2012, La Liga champions in 2014 and twice Champions League runners-up in 2014 and 2016, and with a bit of luck they could have won both finals against city rivals Real.

Is Simeone the tonic Arsenal need? The Argentine would certainly bring back that physical and mental toughness the Gunners have been devoid of these past few years. And given Atleti's struggles to keep pace in the title race this season, it feels like an end of an era, one where Simeone may seek a new challenge.
