Arsenal Best XI From Arsene Wenger's 1,000 Games

LB. Ashley Cole

Ashley Cole is now hated by Arsenal fans after he left the club to join London rivals Chelsea but that doesn't take away his contribution to the North London side during his time at the club. In fact, Arsenal never replaced Cole and it's been an area of concern ever since. Cole spent eight years at his boyhood club, was introduced to the side by Arsene Wenger and the Frenchman was a key figure in the development of a player that would go on to become the best left-back in world football. He won three FA Cups and two Premier League titles with Arsenal and he has continued his success at Chelsea, to the frustration of the Arsenal faithful. Unfortunately, Ashley Cole has played his best years in another area of London but without Arsene Wenger, Ashley Cole wouldn't be where he is today. His Champions League medal, over 100 international appearances and becoming the most successful player in FA Cup history are all down to Wenger- the manager that groomed him to become the best. He will never be an Arsenal legend due the career change he made but it's fair to say that he did make the right decision when you look back at what he has achieved in West London. If he had stayed at Arsenal, he would've become one of the best players in the history of the club but he would not have achieved the heights that he has done.
