Arsenal Best XI From Arsene Wenger's 1,000 Games

RM. Fredrik Ljungberg

Freddie Ljungberg arrived at Arsenal thanks to Arsene Wenger and played his entire career at the club under the Frenchman. The majority of the Swedish legend's career was played in North London, where he achieved numerous successes and scored some vital goals. At Arsenal, Ljungberg won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups and in 2001 he scored in the FA Cup final defeat to Liverpool. The next year, he scored in the final against Chelsea as Arsenal lifted the trophy- becoming the first player to score in consecutive FA Cup finals. He was a key figure in the double winning side of 2002 and also played a huge part in the invincible team of 2004, which will go down as Wenger's greatest achievement on the football field. He was still at the club in 2006 and played in the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona, despite having an ankle problem. His nine years at Arsenal were accompanied by vast amounts of success that he was unable to achieve anywhere else during his career. He owes a lot to Arsene Wenger and Wenger owes a lot to Ljungberg in return, as he was a huge part of his side for many years.
