Arsenal Confident Of Securing Yann M'Vila Transfer

M'Vila is due to start talks with Arsenal this week but will only move to the Emirates if they have secured Champions League football.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident of landing Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila in a £17 million move, but only if The Gunners can secure a Champions League place. M'Vila is due to start talks with Arsenal and also Inter Milan this week, but the French international is believed to prefer a move to the Premier League and specifically a move to Arsenal. Wenger is offering him a four-year deal to bring him to the Emirates. M€™Vila is 21-years-old and has already played over 100 times for Rennes and racked up 18 appearances for France having worked up the food chain at all levels. He has been compared to a young Patrick Vieira in some quarters for his physical strength and defensive mentality and he is clearly the archetypical Arsene Wenger signing. Wenger has started his summer transfer spree early, securing the £10.9 million move of FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski already to boost his front line next season. It is believed Wenger has a transfer war chest to finally spend big at Arsenal, using the profits made from last summer's big money sales of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and Samir Nasri to Manchester City. Though that will probably only happen if the £35 million windfall for playing Champions League football next season is secured. Wenger is also chasing Ajax defender and captain Jan Vertonghen, who is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United and has some interest in Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett, who is now a free agent. Potentially on the way out of the Emirates is midfielder Alex Song who has caught interest from Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid, along with Juventus and Inter Milan. The likes of Johan Djourou, Manuel Almunia, Andrey Arshavin (who is likely to make his loan move to Zenit St. Petersburg permanent), Carlos Vela, Denilson and Nicklas Bendtner are also expected to be offloaded.
