Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Must Pay £30 Million If They Want Michu

Express. Swans boss Michael Laudrup claimed the striker was worth at least that much only four months into his impressive debut season in the Premier League, a campaign that saw him net 18 goals. And, following Michu's recent call-up to the Spain squad, Jenkins agrees with that valuation of the 27-year-old. He said:

"We've seen with Tottenham and Gareth Bale that every player has a price. We are not in that bracket with Tottenham but they sold a top player. We are realistic about that side of things. "I would say Michael was about right with his valuation of Michu if you look at the current market, but this call-up enhances that further. "We know we have a very talented player and naturally we want to keep him."
Arsenal were linked with the forward during the summer transfer window as manager Arsene Wenger seeks to bolster his forward line. The veteran Frenchman signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for a club-record fee but is still light of strikers with Lukas Podolski likely to be absent until the New Year with a hamstring injury. New signing Yaya Sanogo is also out until after the international break, leaving the Gunners with rookie Chuba Akpom and misfit Nicklas Bendtner as the only back-up forwards to the in-form Oliver Giroud. It is understood Wenger is continuing to monitor Michu's progress, and he will have been impressed having seen the Spaniard score five times already this season. However, Liverpool are also believed to be interested, and both will have to table a huge offer to even tempt Swansea into selling their prized asset.
