Arsenal Transfer News: Park Chu-Young Joins Watford On Loan

It was a reasonably busy day for Arsenal as they bought in Kim Kallstrom, and also had approaches rejected for Papiss Cisse, Solomon Kalou and Miroslav Klose. Emmanuel Frimpong left to join Championship strugglers Barnsley and he will be joined in the division by Park Chu-Young, who joins Watford on-loan subject to Premier League clearance. The news was confirmed by the Championship club on their Twitter feed moments after the window slammed shut, bringing the striker in until the end of the season. The striker hasn't featured at all this season and has failed to make an impact at the Emirates but in his defence he got very little playing time. Watford aren't enjoying the best of seasons after coming painfully close to securing promotion to the Premier League last year, and the striker could provide a boost to the Hornets strike force for the remainder of the campaign but as he is previously untested in England he may struggle to settle. It's been a frustrating day for Arsenal fans as they failed to see a striker arrive and the departure of Park Chu-Young, though not an important player for the Gunners, adds salt to the wounds as he plays in the position Arsenal are lacking options for. They can only hope Giroud doesn't get injured and that Bendtner continues to surprise us all.
