Arsenal captain Robin van Persie is will make a dramatic U-turn and stay at the Emirates.
Sunday Mirror. As we reported on Friday, Van Persie is now said to be happy at Arsenal after their summer acquisitions of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud, and especially the imminent arrival of Santiago Cazorla, which has reputedly promoted him to halt his desire to leave over a lack of ambition at the club. The Dutch international is now due to leave for Germany as part of Arsenal's second pre-season tour tomorrow, on his 29th birthday (significantly he missed Arsenal's Asia tour when he was forced by Arsene Wenger to stay at home over his actions), which is a signal to the Arsenal board that they can convince him to stay. The challenge now is in offering the PFA Player of the Year a contract extension on his deal that expires next summer that is lucrative enough for him to commit his future to the North London club. Manchester United had looked favourites to sign Van Persie but Wenger has insisted his prized asset won't leave the club for less than £30 million and all United bids have so far fell short of the Gunners' valuation
