Arsenal Transfer News: As Roma Striker Mattia Destro Eyed?

Arsenal are understood to be keeping a keen eye on promising Italian striker Mattia Destro, according to press in Italy. 22-year-old Destro, the son of ex-footballer Flavio Destro, is rumoured to be on Arsene Wenger's January wish-list of strikers as the Frenchman moves to avert a striking crisis at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott on the injury list. An approach was reported to have been made to the player through his agent to see whether he'd be interested in swapping the Serie A for the Premier League high-fliers. The AS Roma striker has missed much of the early season through injury, but has scored 3 goals in 4 league games since returning. He's been capped 4 times for the Azzurrini at international level as well, scoring against Malta in a World Cup qualifier in 2012. He'll be looking to ensure he's playing first-team football ahead of this summer's World Cup in Brazil. However, while he's played second-fiddle to icon Francesco Totti for much of his career in Rome, the Italians are understood to be reluctant to part with the young forward, and are stalling on opening talks with the London club.
