Arsenal Transfer News: Yohan Cabaye To Emirates?
Arsene Wenger is considering making a £15 million move for Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.
The Daily Mail. The Gunners boss has ruled out a move for Cabaye's club team-mate Cheick Tiote, but The Daily Mail claims that the 26-year-old Frenchman is now thought to be on a list of targets to bring to the Emirates before the transfer window closes on Friday night, a list which includes Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. After Arsenal's 0-0 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium yesterday, Wenger was asked by journalists whether he was in the market for a new defensive midfielder to replace Alex Song, who made his £15 million move to Barcelona last week. Wenger said;
'I'm pleased with what I have, but yes I anticipate that we will do something. Defensive midfielder? It depends on the quality of the players available. Tiote is a good player, but he's not on the way to Arsenal.'The Daily Mail claim that Newcastle have yet to receive a bid for Cabaye and that even if a £15 million bid was to be made this week, they may reject it out-right as they would have just a couple of days to hurry through the signing of a replacement. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew said after his side's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday;
'All my players are important, and they are hard to replace now. You lose a big player now and you try and take someone out from somewhere else and they want a replacement and time is suddenly running down. You can't get anyone in and we want to avoid that.'
