Arsenal Transfers: 10 Worst Arsene Wenger Signings Ever
4. Denilson
After arriving at Arsenal during the 2006/07 season for £3.4 million, there were high hopes for the Brazilian central midfielder, who was described as a combination of Arsenal legends Tomas Rosicky and Gilberto Silva. Sadly, he was more like a lost stray dog, aimlessly chasing a ball around the middle of a football pitch.
To be fair, on the odd occasion he did show very brief flashes of why Wenger signed him up in the first place, scoring some absolute blinders from outside of the box and showing off some tasty skills. However, his wonder strikes didn't come as often as he or Arsenal fans would have hoped and they certainly weren't enough to hide his glaringly obvious weaknesses, such as his lack of defensive ability and inconsistency.
The problem with Denilson was although he seemed to have everything needed to be a good midfielder he never showed it in the big games, making him arguably one of Wenger's most disappointing flops.
