Arsenal Transfers: 5 Better Alternatives To Luis Suarez

5. Wayne Rooney

Rooney Despite Manchester United manager David Moyes issuing a "hands off" warning to Wayne Rooney's potential suitors at his first official press conference last Friday, Arsenal remain confident they can secure a deal for the England international as rumours over the 27-year-old's future rumble on unabashed. Moyes said at the end of last week that Rooney was "not for sale" but failed to mention whether or not the striker was actually pleased with that decision and prepared to stay of his own volition. The ex-Everton forward was left disgruntled last season when he was played in an unfamiliar midfield role, benched for key games and had his fitness levels publicly questioned by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. That has led to growing speculation over his future at Old Trafford, which Arsenal, as well as Chelsea, are hoping to take advantage of. Rooney is set to be the subject of £20 million bids from both clubs over the summer as this transfer saga trundles on, but there's little questioning he'd improve enormously both teams.
