Arsenal need a new goalkeeper this summer - if not as a replacement for the suspect Wojciech Szczesny, at least to provide competition for him. Szczesny hardly covered himself in glory on the opening day of the Premier League, conceding a penalty and shipping three goals, while he's been subject of a series of worrying performances in the past, too, being dropped for reserve keeper ukasz Fabiaski toward the end of last season. And you have to wonder if Wenger really trusts the Pole after he benched him for Arsenal's last, seriously competitive Champions League game against Bayern Munich earlier this year. Does Szczesny really have what it takes to play in the Champions League? If not, Wenger might have to look at alternatives, one of which is Real Madrid's out-of-favour Iker Casillas. Casillas is one of the most decorated goalkeepers in world football having won two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain in addition to five La Liga titles with Real. The 32-year-old was
linked with a move to Emirates Stadium yesterday after being benched for his second successive league game having fallen down the pecking order behind Diego Lopez. And Arsenal need to pounce on this, considering how enormously they'd benefit from having a keeper with so much experience behind the sticks for European outings.
